Text Box: I lived and worked aboard boats in the Caribbean for almost twenty-five years, and spent hours every day underwater with my charter guests, leading them along colorful coral reefs and introducing them to my favorite sea creatures. We glided through schools of yellowtail snapper and blue tang as the fish followed with hungry eyes, hoping for another piece of homemade bread from the ship’s galley.
Often my guests and I lay quietly on the top of the water, holding hands, arms outstretched, watching giant tarpon with shimmering silver scales as they moved majestically through flashing schools of minnows. I led the way into underwater caverns lit only when the sun slipped low in the west, sharing a secret world where strange denizens of the deep lived in the darkness. Years of free diving for conch and lobster made me feel as comfortable under the water as in the galley of Capricorn and Capricorn Lady. Perhaps this is why readers will see a different kind of mermaid in my books:
OHNALEE - Mermaid of Heceta Head.
MERMAIDS OF THE SIUSLAW, QUEST FOR THE EYES OF ATLANTIS
Text Box: OHNALEE is the account of an ordinary woman who lived on the spectacular Oregon Coast in the early nineteen hundreds. From early childhood, Margaret Rose Lavell has been fascinated by the sea caves along the shore, and she often spends time there communicating with enigmatic friends who surf into the interior of the caverns to rest and play.
Take my hand and follow me into this passionate tale about a woman who leaves her traditional life and family behind when she falls in love with an exciting male from a different culture and learns about her true heritage.
Travel with Ohnalee and her underwater tribe from icy waters near the Oregon Coast to the sunny enchanted islands where her children are birthed. Swim with turtles and spotted eagle rays as Ohnalee struggles to adapt to life under the sea, then share her triumph as she accepts her ultimate destiny.
Readers will find much historic information about Oregon in the early nineteen hundreds in this fantastic story, including the origin of the entity that is reputed to haunt the lighthouse at Heceta Head. Love, magic, metaphysics, and metamorphosis are dominant themes in this exciting tale which will capture your imagination and leave you waiting for the second book in the trilogy.
