Cleaning our makeup brushes is something that we all forget to do. Putting makeup on our faces is something that we do every day. So, why do we not clean our makeup brushes every day? We clean our faces every day so we should do the same with our makeup brushes (well not literally every day). It is not just a simple rinse up the tap and then they are clean. There are many more things to do as well. Here a just a few ways that you can keep on top of your brushes.
There are many products out there that are specific for cleaning makeup brushes. The most common method that the majority of us girls do is using clean water or just a gentle soap. Some makeup artists will suggest using a Parian Spirit makeup brush cleaner. The reason for this is because it will gently dissolve the powder off the brush, that you used from your eyeshadow palette. It will also dissolve other makeup products such as liquid and wax-based makeup that could be left on your brushes.
You do not need to buy products that are specific to your makeup brushes. Some makeup artists would suggest cleaning your brushes with a facial cleanser. Other makeup artists will say certain dishwashing liquids can be used as well. It just depends on what you have got in your household at the time.
The first thing that you will need to prioritise is wetting your brush with lukewarm water. The next step that you need to do is place a drop of cleanser on your hand. Once you have done that, gently rub the tips of the bristles with your palm. Making sure your cleanser is spread out across your brush.
As soon as you have done that, you will want to rinse the bristles thoroughly and, squeeze out the water with a clean towel. Make sure the brush goes back to its original shape before leaving it to hang off the edge of the counter to dry properly. One thing that you have got to remember is to make sure that both the water and the cleanser do not come in contact with the base of the brush.
Washing your makeup brushes will extend the life of the brush. However, it does not make them last forever. There are plenty of signs that your brush will give you to let you know it is time to get a new one. You will notice that the bristles will begin to fray, shed or even lose their shape. As soon as you start to notice any of these then consider buying a new one.
Many of us girls are guilty of not keeping on top of our makeup brushes. You must keep on top of it to make sure you get the maximum amount of use out of the brush. Not to mention you do not want to be putting dirty makeup on your face as well. …
